During the week of March 15, 2010, leading up to the Phi Sigma Pi benefit concert for the Casey Feldman Memorial Foundation at West Chester University, and throughout the remainder of the sememster, the fraternity held a week-long awareness campaign about pedestrian safety and distracted driving. Members of Phi Sigma Pi educated other students and members of the community about the dangers of distracted driving. By standing outside of the Sykes Student Union at the crosswalks, with posters and signs, they were able to encourage drivers to pay closer attention to the road, as well as to encourage pedestrians to use the crosswalks and sidewalks. Students signed pink hands to signify their commitment to safe driving by “raising a hand for awareness”. Strings of dozens and dozens of these personalized pink hands adorned the walls of Sykes at the concert.
