Pink Tree Dedications - Summer 2010 Galleries

Cumberland County - Millvile, N.J. July 16, 2010 : On Friday, July 16, 2010 a pink tree was dedicated to Casey in Millville, N.J. as part of the SJTSA’s summer safety campaign. Casey’s family attended the ceremony (see photo #3), and Casey’s mother, Dianne Anderson addressed the crowd, speaking about Casey, Casey’s accident and the need for both drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution to avet another tragedy like the one that befell Casey and the entire family (see frame #4 to watch the video). Making brief remarks to the crowd were Mike Tulio, SJTSA; Lt. Wayne Smith, Millville Police Dept.; Rita Carr-Volpe, Victim Witness Advocate - Cumberland County; Millville Commissioner and Director of Public Safety, David Vanaman; and Cumberland County Sheriff Robert Austino ( see frame # to watch the video of the the officials speaking to the crowd). While dedicated to Casey, the pink trees also stand as a memorial to all who have been killed in traffic accidents. Salem County - Salem, N.J. June 30, 2010 : A pink tree was dedicated to Casey in Salem, N.J. on Market St. near the pedestrian crosswalk directly in front of the Salem County Courthouse. Casey's Aunt Janice Gallagher filled in for Casey's parents in addressing the crowd who had gathered for the dedication. She was accompanied by Casey's grandmother, Winnie Anderson. Reverand Fields delivered a heartfelt and memorable prayer which was heard by officials from the county Sheriff's office, county freeholders, Salem City Police and local residents who assembled for the dedication. Various county and local officials also spoke, including Wayne Shelton of the South Jersey Traffic Safety Alliance (SJTSA), who decorated the tree and organized the event. Cape May County - Sea Isle City May 1, 2010 : The City of Sea Isle, along with the South Jersey Traffic Safety Alliance (SJTSA), dedicated a “Pink Remembrance Tree” to Casey as part of Sea Isle City’s Community Day, Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Noon in front of the police department on JFK Boulevard. Adorned with some 1400 pink lights, the tree is visible upon entering the island from the bridge and will be lit every night from dusk till 5:00 a.m. A plaque at the base of the tree is inscribed with Casey name and dates and serves as a memorial to all who have lost their lives in traffic accidents. Ocean City, N.J. - Bob's Grill (Boardwalk) Summer 2010 : The City of Ocean City, along with the Ocean City Police Department and Sgt. Charles Simonson (O.C.P.D.) made great efforts to locate a tree to be decorated in Casey's honor and memory that would withstand the intense sun and heat on the Ocean City Boardwalk. They succeeded with a beuatiful tree covered year round with pink blossoms and lit at night with the same brilliant pink lights that adorn all of the other pink trees. It is an outstanding memorial to Casey.
